Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill first appeared in the 'Fugees', a band which was formed whilst she was still at school with childhood pals Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel.  Their first album 'Blunted on reality' suffered poor sales but received massive attention from America's Underground club scene.  They made it big in 1996 with the release of their second album, 'The Score' which featured well known cover versions of Bob Marley's 'No Woman No Cry' and Roberta Flack's 'Killing me Softly'.  Cover Versions are difficult for any band but the Fugees managed to make a success of the songs which aided sales of their album.  After 'The Score' the band decided to take time out to work on other projects and Lauryn hit the big time with the release of her first solo album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' for which she received 5 Grammy awards in 1998, the most ever awarded to a woman.
Her massive solo success does not however mean that the Fugees are not going to record together again.
The official Lauryn Hill web site is still under construction but you can be connected to www.laurynhill.com and leave an email.  Alternatively, you can, if you want to find out about any forthcoming releases on the virgin web site www.virgin.net.
