Oasis
Oasis were formed in 1993 with an original line up
of brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, Paul Arthurs on the Rhythm Guitar,
Paul Mc Guigan on the Bass Guitar and Tony McCarroll on the Drums.
Oasis have had a stormy rise to stardom and have
constantly been in the press for their antics and developments in their
personal lives but one thing has remained constant since their arrival,
good music.
The release of their first album in August 1994 entitled
'Definitely Maybe' laid down a benchmark for all their later releases.
The album was reviewed in Select magazine by Andrew Perry in which he said
'Definitely Maybe is arguably the most fantastic, bottle swinging, swaggering
racket you'll hear in 1994, and probably for some time after'. He
also added that 'they've nicked ideas left right and centre', but that
is besides the point.
It has been said by some that their newer albums
have never reached the same standard that definitely maybe did, but each
of their albums, 'What's the story morning glory ?', 'Be here now' and
'Standing on the shoulders of giants' have all reached number one in the
charts.
Oasis began a world tour in Japan in February and
are currently in America being supported by scottish band Travis.
They have several dates in the UK in July.
