Travis
Travis are a scottish band who emerged in 1996.
The release of their album 'The Man Who' on the 24th May 1999 ensured their
ticket to fame and fortune. Fame was, however a long time coming
for the group. No one had really heard of the group until their album
was released. It debuted at Number 5 in the album charts and the
release of singles from the album such as 'Why does it always rain on me?'
and 'Driftwood' ensured that things could only get better for the group.
On August the 22nd 1999, 13 weeks after its release,
'The Man Who' rocketed to No 1 and it has been in the charts ever since.
The massive success of the album helped the group to bag not one but two
Brit Awards this year. The awards for Best Band and Best Album are
surely a sign that Travis are to be around making music for a long time
to come.
The band have already gained respect from other massive
acts such as Oasis. They have invited Travis to support them on the
American tour which runs from the 5th April to the 5th May.
After they return they are set to headline some of
the biggest gigs this year.
They will be appearing at T in the Park in Balada,
Scotland on Sunday the 9th July which also includes Macy Gray, Supergrass
and Embrace.
The V2000 gig will also put Travis in the spotlight
on Saturday the 19th August in Chelmsford and on Sunday the 20th August
in Staffordshire. Travis are set to appear with some other top acts
such as the recently solo Richard Ashcroft, Paul Weller. Supergrass, Moby,
Mansun and Death in Vegas.
The massively talented Travis are sure to be everywhere
we look soon, but until then,
